Discover our vision
This website is a demo application created as part of the AI4Deliberation project. Its purpose is to present and test artificial intelligence tools and plugins that can support the public consultation process.
What is AI4Deliberation?
AI4Deliberation is a European project that develops trustworthy and ethical artificial intelligence tools to improve citizen participation in decision-making.
The aim of the project is to help governments and public institutions to design, implement and evaluate modern consultations that are:
1. Transparent
2. Ethics
3. Participatory
4. Accessible to all
These consultations can include different ways of participation (text, image, video, etc.) as well as gamification elements to make the process more understandable and attractive for citizens.
Our vision
The vision of AI4Deliberation is to provide public authorities with a comprehensive set of tools and practical guidance to organise effective large-scale consultations.
This strengthens citizens' participation and promotes a more open, democratic and inclusive decision-making process.
About our page
The OpenGovAI4D homepage is structured in three main sections.
The first section presents the basic information necessary to understand the AI4Deliberation project under which the platform is being developed.
The second section consists of four interactive tiles, each of which leads to a corresponding feature of the platform. Each function provides summary information on how the AI technologies deployed work, as well as diagrams illustrating the individual processing streams (pipelines).
The third section includes a tile leading to the platform’s available public consultations. The user is transferred to a page where he/she can choose the consultation he/she wishes to examine. Selecting a specific consultation displays additional information about its subject matter, as well as the individual articles composing it.
For each article, the user has the opportunity to submit a comment. Once the platform operator has created a summary of the comments, it can be downloaded as a text file (.txt). In addition, for each approved comment, information is available on the positions and arguments derived from it. In cases of high volume of comments, arguments are categorized and grouped so that they are presented collectively at the beginning of the comment section.
Each new comment submitted by the user first passes through the automated content control system (moderation pipeline). This is followed by a human review, which assesses whether the decision of the system was correct. Based on this assessment, the comment is either approved (approve) or rejected (trash).
Finally, users can interact with the comments of other participants, awarding positive or negative ratings and earning points through the platform's gamification mechanisms. Evaluations shall be based on the following categories:
Positive categories:
- Good persuasion
- Productive commentary
- Proper use of language
- Adequate documentation
Negative categories:
- Off topic
- Ironic content
- Insulting content
- Unwanted content (spam)
